To strengthen our communication team at head office, we are looking for a skilled and dynamic social media guru. With this traineeship, you will gain valuable insights and experience in the field of international development cooperation. In return, you will support VVOB’s communication with creative ideas and high-quality activities that take our presence on social media to the next – and highest – level.

Your responsibilities:

As our Social Media trainee, you will:

  • create dynamic content (copies and visuals) for VVOB’s social media channels and online communication campaigns • contribute to social media analysis and reporting
  • contribute to the development of a social media strategy and guidelines on personal use of social media
  • stay on top of the latest social media trends and discussions in the international education and development community
  • advise and train VVOB staff on the use of organisational and personal social media accounts

If you’re our Social Media trainee, your workweek at the office will include the following highlights:

  • Touch base with the External Communication Advisor to discuss what’s happening in VVOB-land. Based on this input, you develop a social media planning for the coming week(s).
  • The technical team (“education advisors”) has developed a technical brief on Adolescent Wellbeing and asks you to disseminate it to key audiences. You take to your digital toolbox and create accompanying copies, visuals, social media toolkits and other digital outputs you identify as relevant for this specific purpose.
  • Our Partnership Manager has been invited to contribute to a panel on ‘life skills and decent work in Africa’ organised by the World Bank. You turn to the relevant social media channels to make sure our key target audiences (i) know this is happening, (ii) tune into the panel and (iii) remember VVOB’s key messages.
  • The local team in Cambodia has just successfully wrapped up a polling campaign on Facebook about gender in education. Upon request, you provide valuable input and insights into how they can share these results in a creative, dynamic and stand-out manner.

Who are you?

Qualifications, experience & competencies you bring to our team:

Required

  • Educational background in social/digital media
  • Expert understanding of social media, and of how to maximise impact and visibility for the organisation • Proven ability to develop, create and implement content (textual and visual) catered to an online audience via various social media channels
  • Strong interest in international cooperation, institutions and donors
  • English Proficiency Level: Native Speaker

Desired/advantageous:

  • First working experience in social media
  • First working experience in the field of international cooperation
  • Technical skills: Hootsuite, Twitter Analytics, LinkedIn Analytics, or other analysis tools for social media
  • Knowledge of Dutch, French and/or Spanish
