Created in 1994, nWave Digital, the production arm of nWave Pictures is a state-of-the-art 3D animation studio based in Brussels, Belgium. nWave creates 3D stereoscopic feature films, 2D/3D large format films, and has a library of over 42 3D/4D theme park attractions and 32 other special venue films distributed worldwide.


nWave Digital is looking for a software engineer to join its production pipeline development team.

Position Summary

This position focuses primarily on the continued development of nWave’s custom production pipeline which integrates with Autodesk Maya and is used by all departments from previsualization to lighting. You will increase your understanding of the computer animation process to keep guaranteeing the well functioning of our pipeline. As a consequence you will make the life of artists easier by keeping their tools sharp and effective.


As a candidate for this position your goal is to become well-versed in managing an asset pipeline and to provide articulate assistance to artists. Furthermore you are always on the lookout for opportunities to offload repetitive work onto automated processes and to streamline the workflow. You want to raise the bar and be part of the creative process that results in 3D animated feature films.


  • Enhance nWave’s in-house asset management software
  • Improve the integration of this software in Autodesk Maya
  • Increase your understanding of animation pipelines to come up with creative solutions
  • Interact with artists and technical directors to meet technical production requirements and resolve issues


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience
  • Fluency in a modern dynamic scripting language, preferably Python
  • Good spoken and written English
  • A good “bedside manner” when dealing with artists who are under pressure


  • Experience in 3D animation movie production
  • Experience in web development
  • Knowledge of Maya Python scripting
  • Experience with UI development

We are looking for an experienced rigger mainly focused on facial deformations to help the team to achieve better and more consistent results. Ideally, that person should help bringing new techniques and technologies to help modernizing our facial pipeline and give animators friendly tools to work with. The candidate must be self-reliant and have a solid knowledge of facial and body anatomy.


  • Work closely with the animation Leads to answer their requests.
  • Work closely with modeling and character design departments to create models that meet rigging technical requirements and ensure a full range of motion.
  • Develops new rigs and techniques to improve the current facial system as well as building rigs with our tool-sets following internal conventions.
  • Help each artist in the team to improve his facial work and have a nice coherent result on all characters
  • Be able to work under demanding artistic and technical environment

Position Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience
  • Solid knowledge of character rigging, facial deformations and volume conservation
  • Solid knowledge of anatomy
  • Proficient with Autodesk Maya production software
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong sense of self-motivation and ability to work under demanding environment
  • Good knowledge of Python. Maya API and C++ programming is a plus.
  • Fluent in English. French is a plus.
