A Belgium-based startup with a clear mission to half the cost of sewer management in Europe and to enable a more water resilient world. Our first step in accomplishing this bold mission is by the development of a new sewer inspection robot which allows for an efficient inspection process.

Spectar is seeking a talented and results-oriented Freelance robotics engineer to join our development team as a freelancer. We develop robust, autonomous mobile robot (AMR) solutions for sewer management to
enable a more water resilient world. This is a unique opportunity to co-develop a brand new robot and work on system architecture, sensor integration and control solutions of a robotic application that is crucial for a sustainable future.

Responsibilities

• Developing the control architecture of an AMR for sewer inspection
• Implementing sensing, navigation and control stacks for (semi-)autonomous control
• Developing a basic user interface for monitoring and control
• Integrating, testing and optimizing the solution
• Work closely with the CTO and development team
• Document your work

Expertise

• Bachelors, Masters or PhD in Computer Science or closely related field
• At least 3 year of experience in robotics/automation
• A keen interest in robotics and autonomous technologies
• Independent problem solving abilities
• Ability to work with C, C++ or Python
• Familiar with Linux OS
• Experience in agile software development, version control systems and processes
• Experience with the Robot Operating System (ROS)
• Foundations in mobile robotics – e.g. control, perception, navigation, planning (Sensor/ IMU /
  camera integration knowledge is an addition)
• Ability to work fluently in English (spoken and written)
• Good communication skills
