At Tomorrowland, as a back-end developer, you will help to translate the needs of our internal tech teams into the applications and tools used by our fans, visitors and crew. Throughout the year, you will be focussing on both internal and external applications in a challenging environment, focussing on the scalability and perfection of the full customer journey. Our APIs and back-end systems need to be safe, efficient and ready for huge traffic spikes. 

Various projects

You will work on various and diverse projects, from marketing related websites to more operational projects, such as ticket sales or the Tomorrowland Account. Due to the unique projects and challenges at Tomorrowland, candidates will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of innovative technologies. As a back-end developer, you will be a member of both internal and external teams and must be prepared to tackle complex projects.

Seamless experience, translated to online

A customer's world is bigger than their onsite experience. You will help to guarantee the continuation of these experiences by building seamless online processes. Scalability and availability are high on your list, next to solid APIs. Your primary goal? Making sure a customer's experience is excellent as soon as they enter the online world of Tomorrowland. The key to a customer's happiness is collecting and delivering the right data to the right person at the right time, smoothly and efficiently. As a back-end developer at Tomorrowland, it will be your goal to facilitate this, safely and robustly. 

Profile

  • Experienced in working on challenging back-end projects. 
  • Know Laravel and PHP, but not afraid to work with NodeJS.
  • Skilled with Amazon web services such as Lambda, API Gateway, EC2, and SQS is a plus.
  • Experienced in scalable development.
  • Skilled in security and focused on privacy by design: our visitors' online safety is a high priority.
  • Have a profound knowledge of databases (Redis, MySQL or similar) and an understanding of indexes. 
  • Prepared to explore new technologies and techniques. 
  • Know the difference between microservices and monolithic architecture.
  • Know how to solve problems and how to prioritize them in a fast-moving environment. 
  • Able to manage deadlines.
  • Efficient
  • When working in a team, you thrive, help others and perform.
  • Fluent in English or Dutch (spoken and written).
